The quality and quantity of our optional activities and amenities at Chartwell Colonial help our residents live satisfying, purposeful lives. You can choose to participate on your own terms, selecting from fitness programs, art classes, games nights, visits from guest speakers, and community outings, just to name a few of our experiences on offer. With amenities such as a movie theatre, bistro/café, country kitchen, and tuck shop, there is a communal gathering space for every experience, including relaxing on our beautifully renovated patio.
We offer a selection of activities from our LiveNow life enrichment program that includes many meaningful experiences, all of which are based on the six dimensions of wellness—physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and vocational. For example, our signature Rhythm ‘N’ Moves and FitMinds classes are purposefully designed to engage, inform, entertain, and challenge you!

Welcome to your day at Chartwell Colonial! How you spend it is completely up to you, but we hope you’ll consider one or two of the following pursuits: if you’re looking to stay fit, why not join our walking club, group exercises, or chair yoga? If you’re feeling like a brain workout might be more your style, consider a FitMinds class, Cribbage, or join the discussion at our book club. Feeling competitive? We have a golf tournament for that. And we need volunteers for Whitby’s annual spring bazaar too. If you’d like a more relaxing pursuit, the bus is leaving for a stroll on the Whitby boardwalk, and tomorrow is a shopping outing. There is a pet therapy visit on the schedule, and Happy Hour is later on. Whatever your day looks like, our goal is that you spend it in the best possible way for you.

Coming together to eat and drink is one activity our residents really enjoy, and beyond our inviting dining room, we also have a casual bistro to meet friends for a snack and beverage, as well as a country kitchen that you can use to make a meal or bake muffins with your grandchildren. We also love getting together in our movie theatre, with its comfy theatre-style seating. Our library is a popular spot, as is our fitness studio. We have a hair salon, as well as a tuck shop for the little necessities you may need to purchase. Outdoors, our renovated patio, green space, and shady walking paths offer tranquil views of our natural world. We also provide optional outdoor parking and guest room rental for overnight visitors.
