Activities and amenities
Chartwell Bayview feels like a waterfront destination: step onto our back patio in the warmer months and you’ll be enthralled by the panoramic view of blue water, sailboats, and birds wheeling above in the breeze. Our setting, just steps from the Bay of Quinte, is one of our star attractions, but there are so many more amenities and activities—and a special ambience—to enjoy.
It’s our residence’s friendly, vibrant atmosphere, where everyone is supported to live a life that’s active, engaged, and fulfilling that makes living here special. Our staff, many of whom have been with us for years, provide engaging and fulfilling experiences and activities so you can pursue your passions and socialize with others. What do you see yourself doing? How about staying fit at a Rhythm ‘N’ Moves class, or staying centred with a meditation session? You can be creative in our stories and poems class or musical in our sing-alongs or the regular concerts given by local groups and performers. You can exercise your brain in a “Fun with French” class, or join us for outings to shopping, eateries, and local attractions.
We also offer several dedicated spaces where you can enjoy our activities, many with stunning waterfront views. You’ll find a movie theatre, games room, library, hair salon, bistro, and fitness studio, to name a few. Senior living in Belleville
While our official address is at the intersection of Dundas Street West and Avondale Road in the charming town of Belleville, you’ll find our unofficial location as “on the shores of the beautiful Bay of Quinte.” Travel just a few minutes in any direction, and you’ll find everything you need: there’s Belleville Harbour and the historic downtown area with its quaint shops, services, medical clinics, and restaurants. Travel north and Quinte Mall’s 125 stores await, as does easy access to Highway 401. QHC Belleville General Hospital is six minutes away, and not far across the Belleville Bay Bridge is lovely Prince Edward County. Belleville is also perfectly positioned at just about the halfway point between Toronto and Montreal, and just over an hour’s drive from the U.S. border crossing at Thousand Islands.
Things to do in Belleville
The small town of Belleville has it all: a lively historic downtown, a waterfront setting that provides a plethora of recreational amenities and attractions, and a burgeoning arts and culture scene, with something for everyone. Start your tour downtown with its rows of historic buildings housing a year-round farmer’s market, cafés, boutiques, and shops. There are many annual events held here, including “Enchanted” during the holiday season, “Downtown at Dusk,” a festival to celebrate the summer solstice, and “Porchfest Belleville,” a September evening in the charming East Hill neighbourhood where residents showcase their musical talent on their front porches. “Pop-Ups on the Bay” is another popular and fun summer food and drink festival at West Zwick’s Park on the waterfront. A little farther east, the Glanmore National Historic Site of Canada is one of the town’s treasures, both a preserved home, museum, and a place to explore your inner child through a toymaker time machine. If you are a nature lover, be sure to visit Potter’s Creek Conservation Area with its seven kilometres of looping trails, or the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, which meanders through the town and alongside Zwick’s Island.
