We have two independent living options available: you’ll have complete independence and your own full kitchen in our senior townhomes, or you can choose one of our independent living suites in the main residence if you’d prefer to have access to care and support services.
Independent living is ideal for older adults who want to downsize while staying active and maintaining their independence. It’s an excellent choice if you would rather enjoy a social, relaxing lifestyle where you spend more time with the people and passions you love in a vibrant community, and less time pouring your energy into the daily, weekly, and annual responsibilities associated with home ownership. At Chartwell Thunder Bay, you can join your peers for delicious meals and snacks in our dining room, use the convenient on-site amenities, and join social gatherings and activities as you wish. Or you can simply enjoy informal socializing with your neighbours.

Care Services available
Flexible care is one of the main benefits of the independent living suites at Chartwell Thunder Bay. If your health and wellness needs change—for example, if your health status evolves or you’re recovering from surgery or an illness—our services can change too to adapt to different circumstances. Residents and their families have peace of mind knowing that we have on-site nursing staff, as well as other staff members who are available around the clock for support. If you do require some support, we offer care options including monitoring of vitals, medication management and oxygen service, or you may want to visit the blood pressure clinic. At Chartwell Thunder Bay, our friendly, compassionate staff work with you to build and deliver customized care that suits your health and wellness needs and preferences, so you can enjoy great quality of life.

Seniors' Townhouses
Chartwell Thunder Bay’s seniors’ townhouses offer about 1,000 sq. ft. of living space with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and private garage—plus some layouts with ensuite laundry. Enjoy the independence of your own home while staying connected to the activities, amenities, and optional meal plan at our main residence, with care services available if ever needed.
