Things to do in Burlington

Burlington has tremendous appeal, not just for its convenient location between Toronto to the east and Hamilton to the west, bordered by the stunning Niagara Escarpment to the north, and the picturesque Lake Ontario lakefront to the south, but because of the wealth of things to see, do, and experience. All of this is wrapped up in a community that is also peaceful and safe—a perfect place for active seniors!

Start by taking a stroll at the waterfront in Spencer Smith Park. Besides spectacular views, you can take long walks on the Brant Street Pier or along the Waterfront Trail. The park is home to the annual Sound of Music Festival, and Canada’s largest ribfest. While you’re there, go into the iconic Discovery Landing building with its impressive observatory and ice rink. Just a little farther west you can explore Burlington’s rich Indigenous history at the Joseph Brant Museum. Cross Lakeshore Road and spend a few hours at the beautiful Art Gallery of Burlington. Another short walk and you’re at Village Square, a vibrant hub of boutiques, restaurants, and arts and culture attractions, close to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. Downtown boasts many destination restaurants, and you’ll find lots of local fresh foods downtown at the Centro Farmer’s Market. If you are a gardener, or simply a nature lover, the Royal Botanical Gardens is a must-visit on the city’s western edge.
