Things to do in London
London is Southwestern Ontario’s vibrant hub, not just known for its family-friendly neighbourhoods and educational and medical institutions, but for the wide spectrum of both indoor and outdoor pursuits, events, and attractions. Downtown is a great place to start, with a play at the historic Grand Theatre, or a stop at the Covent Garden Market, with its array of foods, artisanal products, and places to eat. There is always a concert or festival to catch at Budweiser Gardens—London has a busy festival calendar with events held throughout the city, including the annual Ribfest and Sunfest World Music and Culture Festival. Experience more arts and culture at Museum London, a perfect place to check out its collection of 5,000 Canadian artworks. If you have family or grandchildren, a visit to the popular London’s Children Museum, and Storybook Gardens are must-do’s. Families—and all those interested in the region’s rich history—should also spend an afternoon at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. It’s located within Fanshawe Conservation Area, a lovely place to walk, cycle, swim, fish, and picnic on the outskirts of the city. You can also enjoy your daily dose of nature at Springbank Park, with its Thames River views and pretty gardens.
