We offer seniors living with dementia a safe and independent environment with an emphasis on activities of daily living, including specially designed programs and family-style dining with staff.
Our unique approach to memory care
Located on a secure floor on the ground level of the retirement residence, Chartwell Empress Kanata’s Memory Living neighbourhood features interactively designed studio and one-bedroom suites with memory-cue signage, soothing colours, non-slip floors and large windows with views of our interior courtyard. With a unique person-centred approach to memory care, our trained and caring staff establish strong social connections with your loved one to foster trust and familiarity, and partner with you to learn each person’s life history.Memory care support for families of residents
To support the families of residents living with cognitive impairment, a dedicated Social Worker is available to provide orientation, facilitate family conferences and deliver counselling services at Chartwell Empress Kanata. We encourage you to reach out anytime to our Memory Living Manager, who is on hand to provide the support you need and provide updates on your loved one’s happiness and well-being. In fact, one reason our neighbourhood has a wonderfully warm feel is thanks to family visiting so often. It isn’t uncommon to see family members staying to participate in an activity with a loved one, or out in the courtyard in the summertime firing up our barbecue!Special program features for seniors with dementia
