Chartwell Guildwood

Experience a brand-new retirement residence reflecting the heritage of Guildwood Village.

Chartwell Guildwood is a new retirement residence offering independent living services and a dedicated Memory Living neighbourhood. Our residence features architecture and design inspired by the beauty of nature, including elements of fine craftsmanship that celebrate the artistic tradition of Guildwood Village.

To further enhance your retirement living experience, many of our most popular programs, activities and social events take place on-site in our modern amenities, where you can pursue hobbies, socialize with friends, or simply sit back and relax. In addition to convenient household services, you can take advantage of a host of care services geared to helping you maintain your health and independence with the peace of mind you deserve.

Modern design rooted in nature

Incorporating elements of the arts and crafts movement that defines the original Guild, Chartwell Guildwood features design elements that celebrate creativity, yet are rooted in nature. Our organic-modern décor will make you feel at peace, thanks to an earthy palette inspired by the soft blues of Lake Ontario, pale greys of the Scarborough Bluffs, and contrasting hues of the forest in changing seasons. Natural materials like warm woods, clay pottery, homespun rattan and even an indoor living wall provide additional texture and colour. These details are balanced by modern touches like metallic light fixtures, geometric patterns, granite finishes, and show-stopping fireplaces that exhibit the style and craftsmanship that went into the revitalization of Chartwell Guildwood.

Bespoke retirement living

At Chartwell Guildwood, we deliver on a retirement living experience that is personalized to your needs and preferences, providing you with the freedom to choose what in life you want support with. When you aren’t relaxing in your spacious suite, you may find yourself working with your hands at an art or gardening project in our multi-purpose room, seated comfortably in a banquette in our private dining room for a glass of wine with friends, or keeping active in our pool and fitness centre. Here, you have the flexibility to craft the lifestyle you’ve always wanted in your retirement years.

Senior living in Scarborough

Drive through the majestic Guildwood Gates at the corner of Kingston Road and Guildwood Parkway, and you enter the gracious and storied Guildwood neighbourhood in Scarborough, with its peaceful, winding roads, gorgeous public and private gardens, and Lake Ontario vistas.

Tucked into quiet Livingston Road, Chartwell Guildwood backs onto the forest of beautiful Guildwood Park and Gardens, home of the historic Guild Inn, Clark Centre for the Arts, and fabulous outdoor sculptures. Nearby, residents enjoy a grocery store, pharmacy, coffee shop, several chain and local restaurants, a medical centre, and local library. Kingston Road—with its wide range of stores and international restaurants—is minutes away, as are the Walmart Supercentre and Cedarbrae Mall. There are also several places of worship dotted throughout our highly walkable neighbourhood. Both the Scarborough Health Network’s Centenary Hospital and General Hospital are under 15 minutes away, while the Guildwood Station, with GO Train, Via Rail and bus service, is also close by.

Things to do in Scarborough

While Scarborough residents enjoy the benefits of Toronto’s huge wealth of attractions and amenities, it’s also easy to find a diverse range of things to do and see within Scarborough proper. The Toronto Zoo, with over 5,000 animals, is always a wild and wonderful experience, especially with grandchildren. Next door you’ll find Rouge National Urban Park, North America’s largest urban nature park, which winds its way down to Rouge Beach on the lake. There are numerous walking trails, educational tours, and bird-watching opportunities. Bluffer’s Park offers more beautiful walks, a beach, and fantastic lake views. For a more manicured experience, treat yourself to a stroll through Rosetta McClain Gardens, one of Toronto’s best public gardens.

You can explore Scarborough’s past with a visit to the Scarborough Museum, with its historical buildings and recreated nineteenth-century garden. There’s fascinating history to be had—and so much more—at Guild Park. Stroll the sculptural garden created from architectural remnants, and in the warmer months, watch movies under the stars, or enjoy Shakespeare in the park. You’ll also find year-round entertainment at Theatre Scarborough, and the Scarborough Civic Centre. Or explore the region’s multicultural richness through numerous festivals, including Heritage Day Festival, Scarborough Afro-Carib Fest, Scarborough Ribfest, and Taste of Lawrence. And no matter what international cuisine you’re craving, you’re sure to find it in one of the hundreds of local eateries sprinkled throughout the region.
