At Chartwell, even when our residents are apart from their family and friends, they are never alone. Our staff are there to provide them with comfort, compassion and the reassurance of human connection at such an important time. While continuing to physical distance from one another, our residents and their loved ones can feel peace of mind that they will always have the support of their Chartwell family—the staff they’ve come to know and trust and fellow residents who stand with them.

Chartwell’s highest priority is the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. Their health remains our primary purpose, which is why we remain diligent in following infection control and prevention measures, heightened resident monitoring and isolation steps, active screening of employees, and enhanced workplace safety processes, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Coordinated care and services in our residences, such as personal support, medication, meals, housekeeping and enhanced infection supplies, minimize the need for our residents to be out in the community, as well as allow their loved ones to continue to follow isolation guidelines in their homes.

Expressions of support and gratitude continue to lift us up. Chartwell communities have been grateful for the messages of kindness, confidence and encouragement from our residents and their loved ones. Residents’ families have gone out of their way to show our employees that they are appreciated and trusted. Letters and phone calls, coffee and donuts, posts on our social media channels and even handmade lawn signs—all of these heartwarming gestures inspire our continued commitment to our residents.

Our employees have always been essential to us. Caring for some of the most valued members of our society, most especially at a time when seniors are more vulnerable to illness, truly reinforces how committed our staff are to Chartwell’s vision of Making People’s Lives Better. In the words of Chartwell’s CEO, Vlad Volodarski, “To all of our staff—thank you for everything you are doing to make someone else’s life better. As they say, in real life heroes rarely wear capes, but what truly defines a hero is their willingness to go where others would turn away. That is what you are doing every day.”
