Vlad Volodarski's visit at Chartwell Grenadier in Toronto, Ontario

Friday, March 11th marked two years since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. While we reflected on the challenges of the past two years, we also took this opportunity to say thank you to all our dedicated employees and incredible residents for their commitment and perseverance. Our second annual #ChartwellStrong Day was celebrated in all our residences across the country as a show of solidarity, lifting the morale in our homes and welcoming brighter days ahead. The leadership teams in our homes went above and beyond to ensure all employees and residents felt celebrated and appreciated throughout the day with fun parties and surprises, games, special meals and treats and cards of gratitude. I was honoured to be able to celebrate the special day at Chartwell Grenadier and Chartwell Lansing in Toronto, Ontario where I was able to personally thank our frontline employees. Together, we have overcome so much in the past two years, and we have a lot to celebrate as we look toward the future. Thank you to all our employees, residents, family members and loved ones for staying #ChartwellStrong. Please watch my message of gratitude here.

At Chartwell Hawthorn, employees were treated to delicious treats, a pizza party and fun games and prizes. At Chartwell Christopher Terrace, employees and residents enjoyed a decadent sundae bar for dessert and crépe making to end off the day! At Chartwell Oakville, they showed their staff appreciation with a scratch ticket and Tim Horton’s gift card and residents raised a toast to all the frontline heroes with a special “Captain Chartwell” cocktail or mocktail. At Chartwell Le Duplessis, employees enjoyed a sweet candy bar with all the fixings! Thank you to everyone for making #ChartwellStrong Day such a wonderful success and for showing your appreciation to all our incredible employees. Thank you, for everything.

Teri and Bahirah from Chartwell Deerview

I am truly uplifted to see our residences organize fundraisers and donation drives for the people of Ukraine as they continue to face severe and unwarranted Russian agression. The humanitarian crisis that is unfolding is quickly becoming Europe’s largest refugee crisis this century and it is in times like these that the world’s support is of paramount importance. At Chartwell Royal on Gordon in Guelph, Ontario, the home scheduled a Bake Sale and raffle with a goal of raising $1,000. Within two days, before they had even hosted the Bake Sale, they reached $1,500. By the end of the week, they raised a total of nearly $4,500. At Chartwell Deerview in Hamilton, Ontario, they declared March 10 “Blue and Yellow Day”. Residents and staff wore the colours of the Ukrainian flag and set up a donation box to collect funds to help support the people of Ukraine. Thank you to Terri, Bahirah, pictured here, and to everyone else who has helped organize these beautiful gestures of solidarity.
