“ You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Friendly Visiting Program at Chartwell Scarlett Heights was created with a clear goal in mind: to ensure that residents who are hospitalized for long periods of time still feel connected to their Chartwell family. Residents who are in hospital or rehab for over 2 weeks receive a friendly visit from an Activities Department staff member who brings them get well wishes and cards from the residents and staff, reinforcing how much they are missed and valued. Since implementing the program two months ago, they’ve received wonderful feedback from residents who have been hospitalized and from their families.
Not only do they feel appreciated and loved, but the kind gesture and time spent with them also has a positive impact on their recovery and the speed at which they can return back home. The residence is looking forward to continuing their efforts as they know it truly does make a difference in their residents’ lives.
