Corporate giving has always been an important part of Chartwell’s culture and at our National Leadership Conference in November, Brent Binions, President and CEO, officially launched Chartwell’s new Corporate Giving program:
WE ALL HAVE AN INNATE DESIRE TO SEE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE AS WELL AS TO HELP OTHERS ACHIEVE THEIRS.
As we age, these dreams and wishes often become more integral to feeling fulfilled but might be harder to accomplish on an individual basis. Wish of a Lifetime (WOL) is a U.S. charity founded by Olympian and World Cup gold medalist, Jeremy Bloom. Dedicated to fulfilling wishes for deserving seniors, Wish of a Lifetime’s vision closely aligns with Chartwell’s vision of Making People’s Lives Better.
Wish of a Lifetime will be gaining charitable status in Canada in a made-for-Chartwell partnership and will become our new corporate giving partner in 2014. Residents, as well as any Canadian senior over the age of 65, will have the opportunity to submit wishes or dreams through this new initiative.
Small-scale wishes, which we call “moments,” will be carried out on a daily basis by staff in our residences. Bigger requests that meet certain criteria, and that require additional funding, will be elevated into a Wish of a Lifetime nomination.
We can’t wait to see this new charity come to Canada and start granting wishes for deserving seniors!
